These boots were made for walking - 1978

I've had these boots for 32 years!

I bought them second hand from a friend in the first year of university when I thought it might be fun to go bush walking.

These boots have been around the Freycinet peninsula, including up Mt Graham which took me 7 hours instead of the estimated 3, and up to the University Ski Hut at Mt Field (where I lost part of my right index finger) and other assorted walks in Tasmania's south-west wilderness where I got car sick on the way there, struggled with anything that wasn't flat, then threw up again on the way back.

Soon after that I took up bridge, mahjong, backgammon and other indoor pursuits.

Ah, happy days.

  2. I have a pair of favourite boots too. I bought them in Oxford St London in 1996 and they cost me 50 pounds! Wish I had a dollar for every mile I've walked in them since - I clocked up a lot in the UK and even more since I came home. Have lost count of the number of times they've been resoled and repaired - and I wouldn't part with them for anything!

  3. Only a small part of the tip of my finger Mary!
A bit of a nuisance for typing and playing the piano, but not too serious!

  4. Linda, I also have a pair of black walking boots that I think I bought in Victoria Market, that have been all over Europe in more recent visits.
Must look them out for a photo opportunity, and maybe a future trip!
